Haute Couture

When we took the plasterboard down in bed 1, we found three different styles of wallpaper, some old newspaper and a magazine which had been screwed up and used to stop the draughts coming through, but sadly and frustratingly there was no date to be found. But judging by the outfits I think the magazine dates from the 1970’s, flared trousers and maxi dresses were all the rage then. I remember wearing these styles, did you?

  1. Pity there are no dates, but as you say the styles are a bit of a give-away. When we stripped our wall paper off we found dates written on the walls in the 60's with signatures :-) Hope R is doing well Diane xox

    1. We are hoping that when we re-do the ceiling we might find more pages. The 1st page has to be there somewhere :) x

  2. I had an outfit, just like the first picture. And we had the most dreadful wallpaper in our kitchen. Very similar to your pictures. What fun. Xx

    1. Those styles of wallpaper were so popular but they seem to be making a comeback. Just on one wall they can look quite nice x

  3. I would say the pictures are late 60's or early 70's. I wore the dress and trousers combo and made myself a maxi coat for winter 1970 when I went to university.
Years later I took the coat to a local charity shop and for months afterwards saw the same coat most days in the bus queue! Ever since I have been sure to take clothes to a shop that's a bit further from home!

    1. That must have felt strange, seeing your coat on someone else but at least somebody else was enjoying it x
