What a giggle we had last night, entertained by the Pommeraie Players, who were raising money for Cancer Research Deux Sevres. Last year, over 1000€ was raised to provide a defibrillator for the Salle des Fetes, and they hope to top that this year. With curtains up at 8, we were treated to various sketches, including Tramp sketch, Doctors sketch and Vets sketch, songs and general messing about, men dressed as dames and ladies dressed as gents. The black and white sketch was brilliant, so funny. As a bonus, I won a very nice bag on the raffle. A great evening was had by all.

Happy Visitors

My parents have been and gone, another week over too quickly. Sadly the weather wasn’t as great as the previous week, but we managed to get out and show them around our little part of France. We took them to their first repas, which they enjoyed very much, 4 courses, loads of wine, tea, coffee and cognac. They both love being in the garden, so we really appreciated them helping us sow our first lot of vegetable seeds, trimming the apple trees and playing on Rogers mower. I never thought my Mum would have a go on the mower as she doesn’t drive, but she really had fun on it. Mum taught me how to make her malt loaf. No photo as it was so delicious, it didn’t last very long. They loved every minute of their holiday and didn’t want to go home, but I’m sure they will be back soon.

Fantastic Friends

What a fantastic four days we’ve just had with our friends, Tina and Martin. The weather was great, so we were able to have our first BBQ of the year, go for a lovely walk and pop to Lezay market. We had a very chilled time, relaxing in the garden and chatting, apart from the sound of screaming as Roger took Tina round the garden on the mini bike. She held on so tight that Roger’s chest was being crushed. But Tina definitely needs better footwear for motorbike riding. Martin made his first ever loaf of bread which was very tasty, smothered in butter. We didn’t want them to go and we miss them loads. Hope to see them again soon.
