Le sablage a commencé

Yippee, the sandblasting started on Saturday but after a troublesome morning. The hopper wasn't pumping the sand properly, apparently due to the humidity, but after some swearing from the boys (which always seems to work!!), the hopper pulled itself together. The hall looks like a beach and the utility room is just covered even though the door has been blocked up!!! The upstairs had been blocked off too, but it still managed to get into every room. I just can’t describe the dust and sand, it’s everywhere and sleeping in a very dusty bedroom just wasn’t fun. But, there was no point clearing up as we are at it again today. We hope to get the sandblasting finished today, but that wont be the end of it. Most of the pointing has been done with cement, not chaux, so we have a lot of chipping out to do in a couple of weeks time. But, we have to have a thorough clean tonight and tomorrow, before Roger’s Mum and Dad arrive on Tuesday. Hope they don’t mind living in a very dusty and gritty house :)

  1. I'm so glad the job is now progressing. Can't believe the dust!! Completely understand why you didn't furnish until it was done. Fingers crossed you're ship shape for the visit on Tuesday x

  2. Loved the footprints in the sand. How many bags did you end up with?

    1. We used 45 25kg bags and then we decided to leave two walls as they are. They will be rough plastered. More skills to learn x

  3. I know the dust feeling so well!!! I thought we had ended it all until the guys had a go at our verandah on Friday with an angle grinder!!! I hope you are clear for Roger's parents arrival :-))) I think leaving two walls will be an improvement, all 4 walls would have been too much. A bientot. Diane and Nigel

    1. Thankfully we've not put much out as we've been living in the kitchen plus one room upstairs. But still, everything got covered. I'm sure we will find sand in nooks and Cranny's in weeks to come x

    1. And a bar with cocktails. Not sand free but they are not bothered at all. Just enjoying the experience as they've not been to France before x
