La Domaine de Péré - Fête d'automne

Every year in October, La Domaine de Péré, holds it autumn fete. Set in beautiful grounds near the hamlet of Prissé-la-Charrière, the domaine, built in the 1500’s, welcomes more than 5,000 visitors over the weekend. There were over 100 exhibits selling plants, fruit trees, bulbs, roses, skin products, clothes, spices, handmade toys, ceramic pots, homemade jams and jellies, there was a lot to interest the visitor. We definitely didn’t need any jam or jelly, but we were after some screening plants to put at the bottom of the garden. We love the tall grasses, so choose 4 different varieties that grow to over 2 meters high. The only thing that eludes us is a Pampas Grass, we've not seen one for sale yet. We found out when we got home, that we could have looked around the house, perhaps next time.

  1. Always something good at these places amongst the junk!!!! You can get some pampas grass from us, easy to dig up a few roots and it seems to take easily enough. We will make a plan. It is in full 'flower' at the moment but guess we can still get up some roots. Take care and hope you are feeling 100% again. Diane and Nigel xx

    1. No junk here as there wasn't a vide grenier. The stalls were selling lovely hand crafted items. Thanks for the offer of some pampas grass, it will be appreciated. I've stopped taking the tablets and there's been no wobbles yet x

    2. Glad to hear the wobbles have gone. The pampas is only a pleasure. I put some into pots a few years back, then decided that we had enough so dumped them!

  2. This is the sort of place that we would love to see, we will have to come in October as well. Love the wooden toys, and the House looks a bit like Stanstead Park . xx
